How to start looking for a hosting service?
When you are in need of a good hosting service the biggest problem is always – where to start looking? Adverts and banners on other’s sites? Google and SE? I hope you do realize that first result in Google will not necessarily bring you the best hosting service, it means the guys behind this ISP worked hard on their SEO and promotion, and you can only but hope they work just as good on their servers performance.
I’d start off the search by going to big forums such as DigitalPoint, SitePoint and V7N, and ask who has good experience with what host. Beware of people recommending their own hosting services calamining it’s the best company they ever tried. To avoid falling into this bait, check members posts count and reputation, blatant spammers normally get suspended quickly.
After you heard some opinions on various companies, you can go to their websites and see for yourself, whose price and payment method suits, you delivers the features you need and maybe what your intuition tells you. The most important is thing you have to remember is that when you see a blogger, “sincerely recommends” a certain host, he is most likely promoting his or her affiliate host, i.e. he gets paid if you sign up as their new client and often this encourages dishonestly amount bloggers, and some even lie about using the host in the first place. Ideally, if you have webmasters friends, ask what they would recommend and what would they suggest to avoid. Your friend, if he is a real friend, won’t lie to you just to get a commission!
